This is just a quick progress update on where we are with my next book “Do not feed the troll” – with a special announcement to boot!
About the story
In case you’re not aware, this new novel is about 10 year old Martin and his family who move house and find a creature, who claims to be a troll, living under a trapdoor beneath their back garden. At first it seems funny, if a bit annoying, but soon it starts to take over their lives. Martin is still trying to fit into his new school but finds that some of his new friends might just be the key to helping his family with their problematic visitor. Above all else the family must heed the warning on the trapdoor – DO NOT FEED THE TROLL!.
The full story has now been written and is in the second stage of proofing and editorial. This mostly means checking my spelling and grammar but also I have rewritten a few bits because once I read them in context they didn’t come across as I had first intended. The drawings and illustrations have been mostly done (again by my children – they did such a good job on the last book) and will be added in once proof-reading is finished.
When will it be published?
That’s the big question isn’t it? I’ve always been a big fan of “it will be done when it is done” but I think I need to set myself a target here or other things will keep pushing this back so…deep breath… I am aiming to publish this book , in all forms, by the end of June 2014.
The book will, of course, be published in paperback format along as various ebook formats (PDF, epub, fb2, html, text, odt etc) and ereader (e.g. kindle, nook, iTunes). The ebook formats will be under a Creative Commons licence, just like my last book, Sugar the Robot and the race to save the Earth.
